VOLUNTEERS
Join Our Conservation Community
At Desert Foothills Land Trust, we're more than just land preservation—we're a tapestry of human connections. Our strength comes from generous landowners donating their properties, community members inspiring new opportunities, and dedicated volunteers supporting our mission-critical work.
Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization, contributing to preserve stewardship, leading guided hikes, educating our community, and contributing to our strategic vision. Their commitment ensures our conservation legacy for future generations.
We invite you to be part of our mission to conserve the irreplaceable Sonoran Desert. Find your perfect opportunity below:
Trail Ambassador
As a Trail Ambassador, you'll be the friendly face of Desert Foothills Land Trust on our preserves. Your role involves welcoming visitors, providing information about trails and local ecosystems, and ensuring a positive experience for all users. We offer flexible shifts and provide you with a DFLT shirt, backpack, maps, and other essential supplies.
Hike Leader
As a hike leader, you'll guide groups through our preserves, sharing knowledge about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem, local history, and conservation efforts. We provide
comprehensive training, detailed maps, and informational resources to support you. This role is perfect for hiking enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their love of nature with others.
Educational Booth Representative
Our educational booths at community events are vital for raising awareness about our mission. As a booth representative, you'll engage with event attendees, answer questions about our work, and lead fun interactive nature activities. We provide training on key talking points to ensure you feel confident in representing DFLT.
General Office Help
We often need extra hands for various administrative tasks. As an office volunteer, you might assist with data entry, filing, preparing mailings, or answering phones. This role offers flexibility and is perfect for those who prefer indoor work.
Land Steward
Land Stewards play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and safety of our preserves. Your responsibilities may include emptying trash cans, restocking dog waste bag stations, refilling brochure boxes, and reporting any trail maintenance issues. This role is ideal for those who enjoy hands-on work and have a love for work outdoors.
DFLT Events Support
Throughout the year, we host various events that require volunteer assistance. As an event volunteer, you might help with setup and teardown, manage registration desks, sell tickets or merchandise, or assist with parking logistics. It's a great opportunity to
network with like-minded individuals and gain insight into our event operations.
Board and Committee Members
Board and committee members shape the direction and success of DFLT through strategic planning and financial oversight. We seek individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds to help provide the staff and the organization with the resources needed to succeed.
Your support isn't just volunteering—it's preserving our natural heritage. Find the role that suits you best and join us in protecting the Sonoran Desert for generations to come. Thank you!
